Voltron Classic Opening

Can you guess the voice?? Check out the Voltron opening scene from back in the day.

Voltron Lion: Sven Profile (Blue Lion temporary pilot)

Sven did not stay long with the team, as he was injured in a battle with the evil witch Haggar early in the series. In the original Japanese version, Sven died at this point, but in the American version he was only injured and taken to another planet which had better hospitals than those on Planet Arus [Planet Altea]. As it turned out, Zarkon's forces attacked the planet where Sven was recovering, and Sven was taken captive along with other citizens of the world. Sven and some of the others were then sent to Planet Doom [Planet Galra], where they were used as slaves. Sven, useless as a slave because he was still weak, was thrown in to a cave by himself and left for dead. Then one day Princess Romelle was thrown down a hole by Prince Lotor, where she met Sven who helped her to escape. He didn't want to go back to Planet Arus because he felt that he had failed the Voltron Force. Princess Romelle told him to call them, but he refused. She kept on telling him, so that he eventually calls them through a comlink, and when he does calls Planet Arus everybody is glad to see that he is OK. So the Voltron Force goes out to save them, and Sven and the Princess escape by taking one of Zarkon's ships. They get out of Planet Doom while Voltron is on his way. When they finally catch up to Voltron, Lotor brings out a RoBeast which almost defeated Voltron, if it wasn't for Sven and the Princess. So, after the battle they return to Princess Romelle's planet and Sven tells Keith that he is going to stay with the Princess.... and Keith told him....."Remember you will always be with the Voltron Force...and when you want to come back you will be welcomed...." And that's what happened to Sven.

Lion Force: Getting to know Pidge pilot of the Voltron Green Lion

Pidge is the youngest and smallest of the group; he pilots the Green Lion that forms the left arm of Voltron, and wears a green uniform.Pidge went to Galaxy Alliance Academy to become a space explorer. He is the pilot of the Green Lion. He is the youngest and shortest memeber of the team. He is approximately 12 years old. His specialty is science. Like the others, he is well-trained in martial arts, and uses his size and agility to his advantage. Pidge is not afraid to speak his mind, especially to the villains, and his heart is often in his words. Pidge has a twin brother, Chip, who is a member of the Vehicle Voltron Air Team. Pidge was remarkably agile despite his outward geekiness.

Pidge is highly intelligent, but his curiosity and youthful mischief can get him into trouble. He is very caring especially to children. He also can communicate with Allura's mice. He is also the only one able to keep Hunk out of trouble. His best friends are the mice and Hunk.

Pharrell Williams Revisits The '80s With 'Voltron' Movie

You already know Pharrell Williams is obsessed with the sounds of the '80s.

Now the Neptunes producer is getting a chance to put his beats where his passion is as the producer of the soundtrack to the big-screen version of the 1980s giant-robot series "Voltron."

Williams, an executive producer on the film, will also score "Voltron: Defender of the Universe," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie is being produced by Mark Gordon ("The Day After Tomorrow," "Saving Private Ryan"), based on a story about five maverick pilots who have to travel to the planet Arus to learn how to operate the massive Voltron, which is made up of five smaller robots. The giant robot is Earth's last hope in the fight against the Drule Empire.

"Voltron" is not the only '80s robot flick on the roster. Steven Spielberg is executive producing a live-action version of "Transformers," which will be directed by Michael Bay ("The Island," "Armageddon"). That movie is slated for release on July 4, 2007.

"Voltron" and "Transformers" animated series both debuted in 1984, each spawning a huge toy phenomenon.

Voltron Live Action Update

In the past months Justine Mark's review of the latest script rewrite for Voltron Live Action was described as follows:

“The script has the tone, edge and dark elements of GOLION. Mark Gordon is going to have a bidding war on his hands with Voltron after TRANSFORMERS opens.”

GOLION was the source of inspiration for Voltron when it was created for the US Audience. This is dark, aggressive/violent and nto for the younger audience which Voltron was intended for. A Voltron that kicks even WAY MORE ass and I think is better than Transformers.

There are cast announced for this Voltron Movie. 2008 is still a tentative date because up to now there is still no big time new about voltron.

“This updated telling of the VOLTRON story follows a team of space explorers who travel to the planet Arus and learn how to operate Voltron, the last hope against the evil Drule Empire that has subjugated Earth and taken control of the universe.”

but regardless of when and who are the characters.. i'll be waiting here.. updating you guys!

Exclusive: Voltron Live Action Story Details!

Source: Robert Sanchez

We've got details on the latest Voltron draft penned by Justin Marks. Reader Excelsior has sent in character and plot details on the classic 80's cartoon.

Voltron details!

Hey guys, got some information on the Voltron script that Justin Marks recently finished up. Marks is a very busy guy, also working on scripts for He-Man, Street Fighter and the Green Arrow project, Super Max.

Being a fan of the Voltron cartoon, I've got to say that I'm far more interested in laying out some plot points than spoiling anything for you guys but be warned anyway!

If you want to learn a detailed history of the cartoon, I advise you to check out the Voltron Wikipedia page.

So for the sake of this article, I'll assume you know characters, robots and planet names.

I've always loved the 5 W's of journalism, so I'll tell you the Who? What? Where? When? and Why?

When?

I'll start with the When just to establish what's going on for you. Future planet earth. Earth has been attacked by an alien race called the Drules, whom we never see. They use battle droids called RoBeasts that can regenerate themselves from metal debris, so it makes them almost impossible to kill with conventional weapons.

Who?

There are plenty of new characters in the script, but I'll center mainly on who I remember from the cartoon.

We know that there are two groups that have been scraped together; one is a militia group led by Dukane and another led by former soldier Keith Kogan, who is helped out by his friend, Lance MaClain. Recognize the names? In the cartoon, Dukane was the leader of the vehicle Voltron Force, Keith was Black Lion pilot and Lance was Red Lion Pilot.

Allura and Hunk are two travelers making their way down to Mexico to deliver five differently colored keys. I'm sure you know the colors. Paths cross and Keith and Lance take on the job of chauffeuring Allura and Hunk down to Mexico. Along the way, they pick up 11 year old Pidge.

Eventually, they make it down to Mexico way and we meet Sven Holgersson and Coran. In the cartoon, Sven was the first pilot of the Blue Lion and Coran was Allura's royal advisor. Needless to say, the characters in the script are different than the cartoon.

What?

Obviously, the What is Voltron. Do we see him? Read on.

So down in Mexico, Allura and company have been busy manufacturing five robots to take on the RoBeasts using a combination of ancient pyramid drawings and alien technology. But the keys Allura was carrying are needed to power them. If you're following along, I think you know the significance of the keys. While under attack, the robots are hastily finished up, but are far from battle ready and things go bad. Which takes us back to Manhattan, where the heroes try to make a final stand for humanity's sake!

We do see Voltron and his flaming sword battle it out in one final climactic battle scene. The battle takes place across the entire world.

Where?

The script is set in post-apocalyptic Manhattan and Mexico with various cities shown along the way.

Manhattan and Mexico (no particular city is named) are the two main back drops. Manhattan, Mexico and really, the entire world have been torn to shreds. The war between the RoBeasts and Mankind has left the earth decimated. A destroyed Manhattan will make for some great battle scenes. The battles are massive, with buildings and bridges torn apart and giant leaps to Paris and India thrown in to boot.

Why?

We learn that the Drules objective is to find the five keys that Allura is carrying. With the keys, the Drules can take over the universe.

Marks has written an expensive project here. I can't imagine the budget necessary to put this together and still retain the scripts vision. Being the purist that I am, I didn't enjoy seeing characters changed up and I'm referring especially to Pidge.

The kid cartoon pretense is thankfully dropped. We see death and destruction on an R-rating level. We also hear a few PG-13 cuss words thrown about.

Just so you know, we never see planet Arus or Kingdom of Altair, but we do hear them mentioned. We also never see or hear the names, King Zarkon, Prince Lotor or Haggar.

Do I want to see a Voltron movie made? Oh yeah. Do I want to see this script made? Definitely. I imagine some things will change but one thing in particular that I hope will change is... well, I will say this only. We don't need another E.T. Speak N Spell moment.

Excelsior!!!

Watch out! 2008 Voltron is coming!

Plot for Voltron 2008 Live Action Movie

In 2008, World Events Productions will resurface to parttake in a brand new Voltron live-action movie. Set in the present day, the movie combines elements of both the American and Japanese Voltron series, focusing on Earth's 24-hour takeover of the Drule race. The majority of the movie is stated to take place in New York City (which has been destroyed) and parts of New Jersey, while spending adequate time on character development of the Lion pilots and the fight against the Drule empire.

"From days of long ago, from uncharted regions of the universe comes a legend. The legend of Voltron: Defender of the Universe!"

After this year's Robot Big BlockBuster Movie Transformers, I'm sure it didn't take them long to dig up another well-loved cartoon series to resurrect on the big screen.

I'm really waiting for this movie, it excites me knowing this film will be released next year 2008. Hopefully this movie will not look like power rangers, if it happens i will be really disappointed. Anyways, have you seen the trailer before Transformers movie? they are showing an untitled movie produced by JJ Abrams for now they call it "CLOVERFIELD" but a lot is guess it can be Godzilla or maybe VOLTRON....

So anyways i will update you more about it and for now feel free to comment in this blog dedicated for all of the fans of Voltron Defender of the UNIVERSE!
